EMDR Therapy in Havertown & Philadelphia, PA

EMDR Sessions with Cameron Cready-Pyle, LCSW | In-Person & Telehealth Across Pennsylvania and Minnesota

If something from your past still shows up in your body, your relationships, or the way you talk to yourself — even though you've already 'worked through it' in conversation — EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, may be able to help in a way that talk therapy alone can't.

The Mending Space can help.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's an evidence-based therapy originally developed to treat trauma and PTSD, and now widely used for anxiety, perfectionism, grief, phobias, and other conditions. Instead of asking you to talk through painful experiences in detail, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — guided eye movements, tapping, or sound — to help your brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge.

It's one of the most extensively researched therapeutic approaches available, and many clients find it produces change more quickly than traditional talk therapy alone.

Weekly EMDR vs EMDR Intensives: what’s the right fit?

Both formats use the same EMDR model, but the difference is pacing. Weekly sessions spread the work out over time in standard 50-minute appointments and are eligible for insurance. EMDR intensives compress the same process into extended, multi-day sessions for clients who want faster results or have limited availability for ongoing weekly care, and are private-pay.

Not sure which is the better fit? That's exactly what the free consultation is for. In the meantime, here is w here to find more info about EMDR Intensives.

Getting Started

Free 15-minute consultations are available — a low-pressure way to ask questions and find out whether EMDR is the right fit for what you're working through. Use the consultation form to get started.

What EMDR sessions look like:

Standard EMDR therapy at The Mending Space follows the traditional 53-minute weekly appointment format you'd expect from ongoing therapy. We move through EMDR's eight phases at a pace that fits your life and your nervous system — building safety and resourcing skills before processing begins, then working gradually through the memories or patterns that are keeping you stuck.

This format is a good fit if you want to build a steady, ongoing therapeutic relationship, prefer to integrate the work gradually alongside daily life, or want to use insurance to help cover the cost.

Sessions are available in person in Havertown, PA or via telehealth for clients throughout Pennsylvania and Minnesota.

How can EMDR help?

EMDR was originally developed for PTSD and trauma, but research now supports its use for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, perfectionism, people-pleasing, grief, phobias, low self-esteem, and relationship patterns rooted in past experiences. I often work with clients who identify as perfectionists or people-pleasers, and with those who have experienced childhood trauma, relational trauma, or chronic stress.

Insurance & Fees

The Mending Space accepts Aetna, Highmark, Independence Blue Cross, and UnitedHealthcare for standard EMDR sessions, and offers a sliding scale for clients who need it. (EMDR intensives are private-pay and not covered by insurance.)
