The Mending Space is now offering Group Therapy

Starting mid-November of 2022, Laura Farrell, LSW, will be facilitating groups at The Mending Space. Laura has a lot of experience as both a member and a facilitator of group therapy and centers her work as a therapist around the beauty of co-regulation.

Meet Laura!

Mental Health Therapist Mending Space Philadelphia Group Therapy for Grief Loss and Trauma

I am an avid reader and life-time learner and am constantly exploring new theories, healing modalities, and content around care work. My practice is trauma informed, and while I do not believe we can guarantee safety to anyone, I work with clients to create safer spaces that feel real and honor the many experiences an individual may be navigating. To me, the most important thing is to care and love one another. My work is rooted in care and love for humanity and the goal of betterment of our society as a whole, starting with the way we treat ourselves. When I am not working, I enjoy taking long walks, being in nature, spending time with my loved ones, creating and viewing art of all kinds, and writing. In addition to working as a therapist I write about therapy modalities and healing. My creativity inspires my practice. In our work together, I hope to find a space of co-regulation, in which you can deepen your connection to your intuition, and more deeply learn to trust yourself, while healing from loss, grief, and trauma.

Mending Mind & Body: A Trauma Recovery Group for Victims of Sexual Violence

This group based around understanding and recovering from sexual trauma is a way to feel connected again to your physical being and brain. The path to healing after experiencing a violation like this can feel insurmountable. In this group there will be an establishment of safety, education and understanding of the way the body responds to trauma, and activities to help soothe the hurt soul.

If you've found yourself stuck repeating the same patterns over and over, or noticed feelings of shame or guilt about your experiences. Even if you just feel off, not like yourself, after experiencing sexual violence, please get in touch with us at 610-756-9880 or contact@mendingspacephl.com

This group can be paid for through VCAP (Victim's Compensation Assistance Program) in Pennsylvania. If you have not heard of this opportunity, please check to see if you qualify to receive up to $5,000 in funding to support your recover: https://www.pccd.pa.gov/Victim-Services/Pages/Victims-Compensation-Assistance-Program-(VCAP).aspx

Take A Breath: A Group for Grief & Loss

Take a Breath is an opportunity to try to understand the power of grief and the way it feels all-consuming. You will learn more about how the grief process works and ways to help things feel less painful in the meantime. It is never easy to lose someone, and sometimes even when you think you've recovered there is more to be learned by engaging in conversation about your path forward. If you've found yourself stuck or unable to move forward, or have recently experienced a significant loss and just want somewhere to feel heard and understood, contact The Mending Space at 610-756-9880 or contact@mendingspacephl.com to learn more and find out if you would be a good fit for this closed, 10 week group.
